Review the supplemental draft EIS executive summary for highlights of our environmental analysis.

Visit the SR 520 Legislative Workgroup Web page for information about their recommended design Option A+, which is Option A with all additional suboptions.

SR 520 is a critical component of the regional infrastructure, connecting Seattle to communities on the Eastside.

The SR 520, I-5 to Medina: Bridge Replacement and HOV Project includes several safety, mobility and environmental improvements to help create safer and more reliable commutes while minimizing impacts to local neighborhoods and communities.

What is a supplemental draft environmental impact statement?

A supplemental draft environmental impact statement (EIS) is a document that provides information to the public about the project’s environmental effects.

The SR 520, I-5 to Medina: Bridge Replacement and HOV Project Supplemental Draft EIS presents information about the project to inform citizens about the potential effects of project choices and to assist decision-makers in considering how the project should proceed. It builds on the work of the 2006 draft EIS by evaluating a new set of 6-Lane Alternative design options.

According to the National Environmental Policy Act and State Environmental Policy Act, an agency must prepare a supplemental draft EIS when:

  • The agency makes substantial changes in the proposed action that are relevant to environmental concerns; or
  • There are significant new circumstances or information relevant to environmental concerns and bearing on the proposed action or its impacts.

Why is the supplemental draft EIS important to me?

The supplemental draft EIS presents an important opportunity for the public to formally comment on the I-5 to Medina: Bridge Replacement and HOV Project's effects and have their comments tracked, published and addressed by the project team in the final EIS.
