SR 520 is a busy regional corridor that connects key Eastside communities, including Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond.
The Medina to SR 202: Eastside Transit and HOV Project will respond to the needs of the growing Eastside by enhancing transit and HOV travel time and reliability, improving safety, and supporting current and planned growth east of Lake Washington.

Project design
The Eastside Transit and HOV Project includes the following features:
Transportation

Restriping the existing HOV lanes to the inside lane between Evergreen Point Road and SR 202.
- Constructing an eastbound HOV lane between Evergreen Point Road and 108th Avenue NE.
- Constructing lids at Evergreen Point Road, 84th Avenue NE and 92nd Avenue NE.
- Relocating transit stops to the center lanes at 92nd Avenue NE and Evergreen Point Road.
- Constructing a direct-access interchange for transit and HOV at 108th Avenue NE.
- Constructing a regional bicycle/pedestrian path along the north side of SR 520.
- Expanding the Evergreen Point Road Park and Ride.

Environment
- Constructing noise walls along the corridor between Evergreen Point Road and Bellevue Way.
- Improving Yarrow Creek and making culverts passable for fish.

Environmental Process
There are six milestones in the Eastside Transit and HOV project environmental process:
- Conduct public and agency scoping.
- Collect data and evaluate effects.
- Issue environmental assessment.
- Public hearing and 30-day comment period.
- Issue finding of no significant impact, or notice of intent.
- Implement project decisions.
